Save time and have your PC cleaned, optimized and protected for you.

Ashampoo WinOptimizer consists of a collection of tools that aim to maintain your system and increase its performance.

The user interface is quite friendly. In the Overview section, you can take a look at details of the system, maintenance (auto-start entries, services, unnecessary objects – fixing them is done is a single click), hibernation files, old update backups, but you can also use tuning assistant (it searches for optimization options for your system, based on your preferences) and activate Live-Tuner (so you can monitor CPU and RAM usage).

The modules found in Ashampoo WinOptimizer include system maintenance (one-click optimizer, drive cleaner, registry optimizer, Internet cleaner, defragmenting tool), performance improver (service manager, startup and Internet tuner, process and uninstall manager), Windows customizer (tweaking, antispy, file associations, context menu manager, icon saver), system analyzer (system information, DiskSpace Explorer, system benckmark, Disk Doctor), file tools (file wiper, encrypter, decrypter, splitter, joiner, undeleter), backup manager, and task planner.

As you can see, there are plenty of options to explore. You can create a favorites list, in order to simplify your searches. When an application comes equipped with so many features, it is very difficult for all of them to run perfectly, especially when Ashampoo WinOptimizer seems to use a small amount of system memory.

For instance, the defragmenting tool runs at its full capabilities only if there is enough disk space available. Plus, if you tell the tuning assistant that you don't use Windows' hibernation status, it will still display Hibernation as an optimizing solution. We have also encountered random errors (e.g. "Abstract Error") when moving back and forth in the program.

The bottom line is that Ashampoo WinOptimizer is definitely worth to be taken seriously as a system maintenance tool, but it could use some work.

Download Java Software for your desktop computer now!

Oracle’s Java is a technology used on all major platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux) to ensure a secure working environment for various applications. Platform portability is one of its major advantages and due to this, almost every piece of electronic equipment in the world uses Java technologies. Billions of PCs, mobile phones, Blu-ray players, printers, medical devices, car navigation systems or web cams make us of it.

Java enables developers to create software on one platform and provide it to users running other platforms. Thus, an application developed on Windows can successfully run on Mac or Linux and vice versa. Java Runtime Environment allows the execution of almost any software, from games to web applications and services.

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) incorporates a virtual machine (also known as the Java Virtual Machine), a collection of core classes and adjacent platform libraries. Actually, JRE represents a runtime environment for the virtual machine and is the part that allows users to run .jar applications (Java archive, proprietary Java format). During installation, Java Runtime Environment also deploys a plugin that facilitates the execution of applets within local browsers.

While Java sits patiently on the computer, it instantly acts when called upon. And that happens more often than you may think of. Whether you play online games or chat with your friends, Java is running in the background making sure you have an enjoyable experience.

Oracle's platform also features a Control Panel that allows the configuration of network and temporary Internet files settings or security certificates. You can also manage the settings of the JRE and access more advanced functions such as Debugging, Java console, Default Java for Browsers, Java Plug-in, JavaFX runtime, JRE Auto-Download or Security.

The Java Runtime Environment is also meant to be distributed by developers alongside their main Java application. This way, they make sure that you will be able to run their Java-written programs. It is used at large scale on various devices and has reached a usability level to the point where having it is not optional anymore.

Java Runtime Environment description

Java software allows you to run applications called "applets" that are written in the Java programming language. These applets allow you to play online games, chat with people around the world, calculate your mortgage interest, and view images in 3D. Corporations also use applets for intranet applications and e-business solutions.

Java technology was created as a computer programming tool in a small, secret effort called "the Green Project" at Sun Microsystems in 1991.

As it turns out, the Internet was ready for Java technology, and just in time for its initial public introduction in 1995, the team was able to announce that the Netscape Navigator Internet browser would incorporate Java technology.

Now, nearing its twelfth year, the Java platform has attracted over 5 million software developers, worldwide use in every major industry segment, and a presence in a wide range of devices, computers, and networks of any programming technology.

Today, you can find Java technology in networks and devices that range from the Internet and scientific supercomputers to laptops and cell phones, from Wall Street market simulators to home game players and credit cards -- just about everywhere.

The J2SE Java Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications.

Here are some key features of "Java Runtime Environment":

· Write software on one platform and run it on practically any other platform
· Create programs to run within a web browser and web services
· Develop server-side applications for online forums, stores, polls, HTML forms processing, and more
· Combine Java technology-based applications or services to create highly customized applications or services
· Write powerful and efficient applications for mobile phones, remote processors, low-cost consumer products, and practically any device with a digital heartbeat

What's new in Java Runtime Environment 7 Update 15:

February 20th, 2013

· Auto-update and update through Java Control Panel of JRE 6 will replace JRE 6 with JRE 7

· Since JRE 6 has reached its End of Public Updates Oracle is taking steps to protect consumer desktops. We will not leave a version of Java installed for which we no longer provide security updates .

· In order to do so, when updating from JRE 6, the update mechanism will not only install the latest version of JRE 7 but will also remove the highest version of JRE 6 on the system. This change will happen when the system is updated via the auto-update mechanism or by checking for updates directly from the Java Control Panel.

· Users who need to keep a version of JRE 6 in their systems can do so by manually installing the latest version of JRE 7 rather than relying on auto-update or updates through the Java Control Panel.

· If JRE 6 has already been removed from a system, but the user would like to restore it, earlier versions of Java can be accessed from the Java Archive.

· Note that Oracle strongly recommends leaving only up-to-date versions of the JRE on desktops. Retaining an older version of the JRE in your systems should only be done by expert users or enterprise administrators with a need for those earlier versions and an understanding of the associated risks.

Bug Fixes:
· This release contains fixes for security vulnerabilities.

                             Oracle VM VirtualBox Description

A powerful virtualization software

racle VM VirtualBox is a general-purpose full virtualizer for hardware. Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, Oracle VM VirtualBox is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software.

Oracle VM VirtualBox is a package of strong x86 virtualization software for enterprise as well as home use.

NOTE:
The binaries from the download section are all released under the Oracle VM VirtualBox Personal Use and Evaluation License (PUEL).
Here are some key features of "Oracle VM VirtualBox":

· Modularity. Oracle VM VirtualBox has an extremely modular design with well-defined internal programming interfaces and a client/server design. This makes it easy to control it from several interfaces at once: for example, you can start a virtual machine in a typical virtual machine GUI and then control that machine from the command line, or possibly remotely. Oracle VM VirtualBox also comes with a full Software Development Kit: even though it is Open Source Software, you don't have to hack the source to write a new interface for Oracle VM VirtualBox.
· Virtual machine descriptions in XML. The configuration settings of virtual machines are stored entirely in XML and are independent of the local machines. Virtual machine definitions can therefore easily be ported to other computers.
· Guest Additions for Windows and Linux. Oracle VM VirtualBox has special software that can be installed inside Windows and Linux virtual machines to improve performance and make integration much more seamless. Among the features provided by these Guest Additions are mouse pointer integration and arbitrary screen solutions (e.g. by resizing the guest window).
· Virtual USB Controllers. Oracle VM VirtualBox implements a virtual USB controller and allows you to connect arbitrary USB devices to your virtual machines without having to install device specific drivers on the host.
· Remote Desktop Protocol. Unlike any other virtualization software, Oracle VM VirtualBox fully supports the standard Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). A virtual machine can act as an RDP server, allowing you to "run" the virtual machine remotely on some thin client that merely displays the RDP data.
· USB over RDP. With this unique feature, a virtual machine that acts as an RDP server can still access arbitrary USB devices that are connected on the RDP client. This way, a powerful server machine can virtualize a lot of thin clients that merely need to display RDP data and have USB devices plugged in.
· Shared folders. Like many other virtualization solutions, for easy data exchange between hosts and guests, Oracle VM VirtualBox allows for declaring certain host directories as "shared folders", which can then be accessed from within virtual machines.

The next generation of Windows, a re-imagining of the operating system from the chip to the experience

This is a detailed preview of the next major release of Windows, code-named "Windows 8". From the chipset to the user experience, Windows 8 brings a new range of capabilities without compromise.

Windows 8 is designed to be the first Windows client to support systems on a chip (SoC) architectures, including ARM, and since it will be pre-installed on a range of next generation devices, it will also feature Metro, a NUI + GUI interface on the surface combined with a new application platform under-the-hood designed to enable the creation of immersive experiences.

The latest iteration of Microsoft's operating system brings an innovative new platform and tools to developers. Windows 8 apps can use a broad set of new libraries and controls, designed for fluid interaction and seamless connectivity. Apps can add new capabilities to Windows and to other apps, connecting with one another through the new interface.

IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTES:
The product keys for using the Release Preview are available on this page.Windows 8 Release Preview Setup will check to see if your PC can run Windows 8 Release Preview and select the right download. Setup also features a compatibility report and upgrade assistance. Built-in tools for creating an ISO or bootable flash drive are available for some previous versions of Windows (excluding Windows XP and earlier).
If you would prefer not to use Windows 8 Release Preview Setup, you can download Windows 8 Release Preview in ISO format instead.

The easiest way to convert an ISO file to a DVD in Windows 7 is to use Windows Disc Image Burner. On a PC running Windows XP or Windows Vista, a third-party program is required to convert an ISO file into installable media - and DVD burning software often includes this capability. One option is the USB/DVD download tool provided by the Microsoft Store. You can also download Windows 8 Release Preview Setup, which includes tools that allow you to create a DVD or USB flash drive from an ISO file (Windows Vista or Windows 7 required).

Here are some key features of "Windows 8":

Touch-First User Interface:

· Metro style - Windows 8 introduces a new Metro style interface built for touch, which shows information important to you, embodies simplicity and gives you control. The Metro style UI is equally at home with a mouse and keyboard as well.
· Touch-first browsing, not just browsing on a touch device - Providing a fast and fluid touch-browsing experience, Internet Explorer 10 puts sites at the center on new Windows 8 devices.

More Ways to Engage With Powerful, Connected Apps:

· Powered by apps - Metro style apps built for Windows 8 are the focal point of your experience, filling your entire screen so there are no distractions.
· Apps can work together - Apps communicate with each other in Windows 8. For example, you can easily select and email photos from different places, such as Facebook, Flickr or on your hard drive.
· Your experience syncs across your devices - Live roams all the content from the cloud services you use most — photos, email, calendar and contacts — keeping them up-to-date on your devices. With SkyDrive, you can access your files, photos and documents from virtually anywhere with any browser or with Metro style apps in Windows 8.

Enhanced Fundamentals:

· The best of Windows 7, only better - Windows 8 is built on the rock-solid foundation of Windows 7, delivering improvements in performance, security, privacy and system reliability. Windows 8 reduces the memory footprint needed - even on the lowest-end hardware - leaving more room for your apps.
· Preserving power-user favorites and making them better - For those who push the limits of their PC, Windows 8 features an enhanced Task Manager and Windows Explorer and new, flexible options for multimonitor setups.

New Developer Opportunities:

· Windows Store - The Windows Store will allow developers to sell their apps anywhere Windows is sold worldwide, whether they’re creating new games or familiar productivity tools.
· Build using more languages - Windows 8 lets you leverage your existing skills and code assets to create great experiences using the programming language you prefer.
· Rich hardware integration leads to richer experiences, particularly for games - DirectX 11 gaming power underlies Windows 8, allowing the easy creation of full-screen games with smooth, flicker-free action.

New Generation of Hardware:

· One Windows - many shapes and sizes - Support for ARM-based chipsets, x86 (as well as x32 and x64) devices, touch and sensors means Windows 8 works beautifully across a spectrum of devices, from 10-inch tablets and laptops to all-in-ones with 27-inch high-definition screens.
· Always connected - With Windows 8, new ultrathin PCs and tablets turn on instantly, run all day on a single charge and stay connected to the Internet so your PC is ready when you are. Next-generation system on a chip (SoC) support will also enable greatly extended standby and low-power states.
· Tap the full power of your PC - Windows 8 runs on PCs and is compatible with the devices and programs you use today on Windows 7, without compromise, to deliver the performance you expect of a PC.

Requirements:

· 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor;
· 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit);
· 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit);
· DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver.
· Taking advantage of touch input requires a screen that supports multi-touch
